Iran won’t stop, Israel must act, Re: Iranian government approves building of 10 enrichment sites, Jerusalem Post, November 29, 2009

Monday, November 30th, 2009

There are four inescapable conclusions that Israel can draw as a result of Iran’s decision to build 10 new uranium enrichment facilities in defiance of United Nations demands that it halt it’s nuclear development program. Indeed, not only can Israel draw these conclusions it must draw them and act accordingly as well. The survival of the country depends on it.

The first conclusion is that Iran will possess nuclear weapons before long unless it’s nuclear facilities are destroyed militarily. History tells us that there is no possible non-military action which can be taken to convince the Iranians to abandon their relentless pursuit of these weapons and that they are willing to suffer any consequences to attain them. Sanctions or any other non-military response simply give Iran more time to develop nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them, nothing more.

The second conclusion is that Iran will attack Israel with nuclear weapons as soon as it is able to do so. No one can have any illusions about this. Iran’s hatred of Israel is palpable and it would like nothing more than to see Israel removed from the face of the earth. Possessing nuclear weapons would give it the ability to do so and there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that an attack would be launched at the earliest opportunity.

Thirdly, Israel must conclude that the United States or any other nation or group of nations is not going to attack and destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities. The will to do so simply doesn’t exist, nor is it going to no matter what the circumstances are. Iran has known this for some time now and Israel must come to the same realization. Militarily, Iran has nothing to fear from the Americans or anyone else except the Israelis and it is no doubt hoping that it can manipulate Israel into holding it’s fire until it no longer matters. This is a trap Israel must not fall into.

The fourth conclusion is two-pronged. The first is that the only thing that will stop Iran from possessing nuclear weapons is a preemptive attack by the Israeli Defence Force which destroys it’s nuclear facilities and the second is that such an attack  ought to take place in the very near future. There is nothing else to do and no choice to make. It’s a question of kill or be killed, of annihilate or be annihilated. Dealing with the aftermath will be difficult but at least Israel will not be dead.

Dealing with the aftermath might not be as difficult as imagined in any case because nobody wants Iran to have nuclear weapons and Israels removing them would be seen as beneficial to everyone, regardless of whatever is said for public consumption.

Copout coming, with conditions of course, Re: U.S. Will ‘Finish the Job’: Obama, National Post, November 25, 2009

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

The United States won’t finish the job in Afghanistan because the job that it should finish and the job in President Obama’s mind are two different things. The job of the United States and NATO in Afghanistan is to defeat the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and remove their ability to sow terror in the U.S. and other western nations from there. The job in Obama’s mind is to get the United States out of the country as soon as he possibly can with the least amount of political damage to himself.

President Obama is a politician in the worst sense of the word and doesn’t have the mindset to bring the war in Afghanistan to a successful conclusion. That would require him to be resolute and strong with a clear understanding of why the U.S. and NATO are there in the first place. It would require him to make a long term military commitment on the part of the United States regardless of what other NATO nations do and regardless of the political consequences at home. He would have to place his anti war mentality aside, exercise real leadership and vision and be a true war time President. There is nothing in his record that indicates that he will ever be willing or able to do any of this and that is why the Taliban and Al-Qaeda won’t be defeated in Afghanistan or anywhere else as long as he is in office.

The plan that he reveals to the nation and the world on December 1st will be full of contradictions, escape clauses, conditions, equivocations, rationalizations and spin. It will be typical Obama. He will try to reassure,  satisfy and inspire everybody while protecting himself at the same time. There will be a little bit for everyone but not enough for anyone. Instead of acting like the leader of the free world and making a bona fide commitment to victory he will try and be all things to all people, which of course will enable him to blame others when things go off the rails as they inevitably will. That has been his pattern in the past and that is most certainly what will happen when his plan is unveiled.

As I said in the beginning, two different jobs. Obama’s personality and machinations ensure failure for the first. Let’s hope that they ensure failure for the second as well and that the American people see his dismal performance in this area as yet another reason to vote him out in 2012.

Ottawa calling Richard Goldstone, Re: Minister calls abuse allegations hearsay, National Post, November 20, 2009

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

There is an obvious response to Mr. Colvin’s allegations that Canadian military personnel committed war crimes in Afghanistan by turning prisoners over to Afghan authorities knowing they would be tortured. A fully independent War Crimes Commission must be held to investigate these and any other war crimes or human rights abuses Canadians may have been responsible for there.

The Canadian governments attempt to dismiss these allegations as untrue is a real red flag and raises serious questions about other activities it may wish to hide or cover up. Only a fully independent War Crimes Commission led by an objective, fair and impartial international jurist with an unsullied reputation can ferret out the truth.

Richard Goldstone comes to mind. There is no doubt the results of his investigation would be every bit as accurate, thorough and balanced as his report on the war in Gaza. The government should cal him as soon as possible and ask him to get on with it. Exoneration after all is the order of the day and no one is beter suited for that.

Unless of course Israel is involved.

Don’t hold your breath, Re: Will a Mideast Truce Work?, International Herald Tribune/New York Times, November 19, 2009

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

No it will not. Why? Because Palestinians are unalterably opposed to Israels existence and want nothing more than to see it destroyed and removed from their midst that’s why.

Palestinians don’t want a truce or peace or to live next to Israel in their own state. They want Israel gone, pure and simple. That has been their attitude from the very beginning. Their loathing of Israel, and the Jewish people as well for that matter, has everything to do with their culture and religion and to ascribe it to Israels existence or actions denies history and reality.

Palestinians plight is entirely of their own making. They could have had peace and prosperity years ago but chose to live consumed by hatred and self pity instead. That’s their fault, not Israels. Everything that Israel has ever done has been in response to those attitudes and their manifestations in violence and war. Human rights violations? Palestinians are among the biggest violators on the planet.

Gaza, the wall, settlements are all red herrings. The root of the problem is in the hearts and minds of the Palestinians and that is where the solution is too. No one wants peace more than the Israelis while all the Palestinians want is their death and destruction. If that changes everything changes. If it doesn’t nothing does.

Don’t hold your breath.

Choices were made long ago, Re: Obama: Iran, N. Korea have a choice, Jerusalem Post, November 17, 2009

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Iran and North Korea both made their choice years ago and have done everything in their power in the intervening time to make that choice a reality. Both nations have chosen to develop and possess nuclear weapons and not to stop or curtail their efforts until they do so. They have also decided not to let anything get in their way, threats, sanctions, reproach and opprobrium from the international community, anything. Iran has made the additional decision to use it’s nuclear weapons against Israel at the earliest possible opportunity and after that against others in the Middle East and beyond if it deems them necessary to advance it’s perceived interests, which it no doubt will.

President Obama is living in a dream world and completely divorced from reality if he thinks otherwise. Military action is the only thing that will bring either country’s nuclear program to an end. In the case of North Korea, it would have to be unilateral American military action as no one else would take on the task. Since this is not going to happen because Obama and the Americans are innocent and blind it is safe to say that North Korea will become a nuclear power in due course, with all the attendant repercussions. Obama and the Americans are innocent and blind regarding Iran too and will not act against it militarily either. Fortunately for all of us Israel is neither and will use it’s own military to remove the Iranian threat in a preemptive strike which it will see as a last resort essential for it’s survival.

There will of course be universal public condemnation after Israel attacks but behind the scenes nations in the Middle East will be thankful to the Israelis because a nuclear armed Iran is a serious menace to everyone in the region and is something no one wants. For Obama’s information it would also be a serious menace to the United States and the West as well. Regardless. there will even be admiration and respect for Israel because in the Middle East strength and the willingness to use it is admired and respected above all. Conversely, the United States will be diminished considerably because it didn’t have the sense or cojones to act in it’s own best interests in the only way it could, with the gun.

Another horrendous decision Barack, Re: The KSM Trial Will Be an Intelligence Bonanza for al Qaeda, Wall Street Journal, November 16, 2009

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

There are only two possible explanations for President Obamas decision to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other al Qaeda terrorists in a civilian court for their role in the 9/11 attacks. Either he doesn’t understand that the United States is a nation at war and that civilian trials will undermine and compromise U.S. national security and ultimately cause many more American deaths or he does understand that America is at war and doesn’t care about the consequences or thinks they are acceptable in the face of criticism which would be directed toward him for trying Mohammed and his cohorts before Military Tribunals. Whichever it is this decision is the latest indication, no proof, that Obamas fitness to hold office is very questionable at best and that the decisions he makes are detrimental and dangerous to us all.

And make no mistake, this decision was made by the President and the President alone. Trying to make us believe that it was made by Eric Holder, his Attorney General, is a cynical ploy to deflect blame when the inevitable recriminations come. Holder is a potential fall guy, nothing more. The human and political blood that will be shed because of this utterly irresponsible and idiotic decision is on Obamas hands alone, no matter how much he tries to foist it off on someone else.

Placing blame where it belongs, Re: Let’s analyze, not sanitize, Toronto Globe & Mail, November 10, 2009

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Blame for the massacre at Fort Hood rests primarily in three places, with Major Hasan himself, with the military personnel who ignored numerous warning signs and with Islam.

Major Hasan chose to murder as many people as he possibly could and did in fact attempt to do so. The decision he made to execute his fellow human beings was made by him and him alone. No one forced him to pull the trigger and no one forced him to commit this atrocity. He didn’t have to do it. That is something which must be stressed. Major Hasan cannot be absolved of blame because he made the decision to kill, he went to the base and he randomly assassinated anyone that came across his path. There are those who are trying to absolve him of blame and rationalize his actions but in the end he killed as a result of a conscious decision he made. His reasoning and motivation is irrelevant in that sense. In the eyes of the law he was, and is, a perfectly sane individual who nonetheless committed mass murder. Blame does indeed rest with him.

Blame also rests with those in the military who either ignored or excused the numerous warning signs Major Hasan gave over the years. There were no shortage of red flags which the military was well aware of. It failed to respond in any meaningful way to every single one of them and as a result 13 people have died, 41 others have been wounded, their families have been devastated, the nation has been traumatized and thousands of loyal American military men and women have been placed under suspicion because they are Muslim. None of this had to happen. If the military had heeded the warning signs and responded appropriately none of it would have. Dereliction of duty took place from the very beginning of this whole sorry episode and those responsible must be brought to account. Heads should roll as they say because that may prevent events like this from happening again.

So, blame rests with the military as well.

Blame rests with Islam too. Those who believe Islam is a benign entity or a religion of peace are sadly mistaken. It is a completely proscribed way of life which is fundamentally at odds with our democratic, free, secular, Judeo-Christian society. Islam doesn’t mean peace, it means submission. It really has one purpose and one person only, expanding itself until the entire world is under Islamic rule and all non-Islamic cultures are destroyed. This is made crystal clear in the Qu’ran, the literal word of Allah as revealed to the Prophet Mohammed which all believers are required to live under. Truly devout Muslims do not think they have an option. They must do what they are told to do in the Qu’ran, without question. That means everything in the Qu’ran, not just selected parts. The instant Major Hasan became truly devout, evidently in 2001 sometime before 9/11, Islam made his future virtually a foregone conclusion. It must therefore also bear its share of the blame, arguably even a disproportionate amount, because it was the foundation upon which he stood and the doctrine he acted under. It was an enabler and allowed him to justify the murders.

Will any good come out of this? Perhaps. At the very least maybe Americans and people in the rest of the free world will recognize the true nature of Islam and take measures to protect themselves that are in keeping with their basic values and the principles Western civilization is built on.

Lets hope so, for all our sakes.

Tommy Tommy Tommy, Re: Call White House, Ask for Barack, International Herald Tribune/New York Times, November 8, 2009

Monday, November 9th, 2009

I hope Thomas Friedman was being facetious when he suggested the United States should “Take down our “Peace-Processing-Is-Us” sign and just go home.” If not he was ignoring reality and being incredibly idiotic.

The truth is the United States cannot abandon efforts to bring peace to the Holy Land. Americans cannot take their ball and go home. Peace between Palestinians and Israelis and a secure Israel with a dominant military which it is wiiling to use on Americas behalf are basic to U.S. national security. Those are what American priorities should be. Allowing the current fractious situation to continue does nothing to make real peace a reality, weakens Israel, emboldens and strengthens terrorists and imperils everyone. Going home would exacerbate matters exponentially, not make them better.

Abandoning the present peace process is one thing and entirely legitimate because it will not yield results. Palestinian myopia and intransigence mean that it cannot possibly succeed. Abandoning all attempts to bring peace to the region is completely different however. A different approach is whats really needed.

Instead of continuing on as it has the United States must come down firmly on the side of Israel and let Palestinians know in no uncertain terms that their behaviour toward the country is unacceptable and must change, that Israels right to exist behind safe, secure borders is not negotiable, that it will guarantee this with its own military and that there will be severe repercussions if terrorist attacks do not stop. The U.S. must also make it clear that if Palestinians truly embrace peace and reject terror and war it will do everything it can to assist them economically, improve their quality of life and eventually make their own state a reality.

All of this is in Americas best interests. Going home in frustration most definitely is not.

Taqiyya and Kitman, Re: Resolving the Cognitive Dissonance of Islam, American Thinker, November 6, 2009

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Islam condones lying, which means that statements by Muslim political or religious figures should always be taken as disingenuous, questionable or outright false unless there is some compelling reason to think otherwise. At the very least, the possibility of ulterior motives should always be considered because failing to do so could easily place our individual lives and national way of life in jeopardy.

Lying in Islam takes one of two forms, taqiyya or kitman. Taqiyya is saying something that isn’t true and kitman is lying by omission, telling only part of the truth. Both are rooted in the Qu’ran and the Hadith and may be used against unbelievers in order to defeat them or to serve some other Islamic purpose.

History is replete with examples of the use of taqiyya or kitman. Lying for advantage is as old as Islam itself. Since our civilization is in a war for survival with Islam (whether it realizes it or not) any actions that have anything to do with the United States, the West, the Free World or our allies, especially Israel, must be seen through this lens.

Of course, it helps if the recipient of taqiyya or kitman is susceptible in the first place. President Obama is definitely a recipient and is most certainly susceptible. He has to be, for any number of different reasons, including perhaps his own Muslim background. In any case, lies and exagerrations, mistruths and untruths are presented to him daily and he is swallowing them hook, line and sinker. Iranians and Palestinians in particular are playing him like a fiddle for their own nefarious purposes. He is being manipulated and suckered and is endangering the national security of the United States, the survival of Israel and the stability and peace of Europe as a result, among other things. This has to change and change very soon because otherwise bloodshed on a heretofore unheard of scale is inevitable, both in and out of the U.S.

Islam is most certainly not a benign entity or a religion of peace. It is a completely proscribed way of life which is fundamentally at odds with our democratic, secular, free, Judeo-Christian society. The quicker we recognize this the quicker we’ll understand what we’re really up against and the quicker we’ll be able to act accordingly.

Reading the Qu’ran and the Hadith would be a good start.

Resolve the cognitive dissonance of Islam? Forget it. Islam itself won’t permit this, not peacefully anyway.

The truth is…, Re: Palestinian state may have to be abandoned: Erekat, Reuters, November 4, 2009

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

“Palestinians may have to abandon the goal of an independent state if Israel continues to expand Jewish settlements and the United States does not stop it, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Wednesday.”

“It may be time for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to “tell his people the truth, that with the continuation of settlement activities, the two-state solution is no longer an option,” Erekat told a news conference.”

Erakat and Abbas should tell Palestinians the truth all right but the chances of them doing so are non existent.

The truth is a two-state solution is not an option for them now and has never been an option in the past either.

The truth is if Palestinians really wanted their own state they could have had it years ago, after WW1, after 1937, 1947, 1967 and after Oslo, for example.

The truth is the last thing people like Erekat and Abbas want is a two-state solution because that means they will have to recognize and accept Israels legitimacy and right to exist, which is anathema to them and which could in fact get them killed.

The truth is  even if a Palestinian state came to life as we speak it would not meet the peoples needs because corruption would be rife, because fighting among various factions (religious and non-religious, progressive and backward, modern and ancient, open and close minded) would mean very high levels of intimidation and violence and constant civil war and because the hatred, ignorance and intolerance that is endemic there preclude it. In other words, business as usual but even more so.

The truth is settlements are nothing more than a red herring and that if they weren’t used as a reason to refrain from negotiating something else would be.

The truth is their real goal is Israels destruction and death, which is why they do everything they can to prevent, obstruct and ruin peace negotiations and why they keep talking about a one-state solution.

The truth is  a “one-state solution where Muslims, Christians and Jews can live as equals,” is impossible because Islam doesn’t permit this, nor, among other things, does history and human nature.

And so on and so on.

The truth is a two-state solution is the only option there is because Israel isn’t going anywhere and because the Palestinian community will implode or be destroyed by external forces if that doesn’t happen. The sooner Palestinians acknowledge and understand these facts the sooner they will take the necessary steps to build a civil and civilized society the sooner they will have a state of their own and the sooner there will be peace and prosperity for all. On the other hand, if they allow the future to be like the past, no one will take them seriously, all their protestations will be seen for the meaningless twaddle they are, they will disappear from the world stage and the current state of affairs will be even more entrenched.
