Will Boko Haram’s barbarity open the world’s eyes?, Re: Nigeria’s nightmare a ‘teaching moment’ on Islamist threat, New York Post, May 7, 2014

No one with an honest, objective and knowledgeable understanding and appreciation of Islam can possibly be surprised or horrified that Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls in Nigeria and will no doubt…sell them off as slaves…subject them to forced marriages…subject them to rape and other indignities…force them to become prostitutes…force the Christian girls to convert to Islam… there can be no doubt whatsoever that Boko Haram will do any or all of the above and more to the kidnapped schoolgirls.

Boko Haram after all are Islamists and are acting in the name of Islam.

Not radical Islam or militant Islam (because there are no such things and never have been Islam being an entity unto itself) but rather Islam pure and simple, which legitimizes, authorizes, justifies and mandates their actions.

The schoolgirls are suffering alright, but so are untold millions of other females of all ages around the world who are being subjugated and brutalized by Islamists in the name of Islam.

All over the world females of all ages are being subjugated and brutalized by Islamists acting in the name of Islam. That is nothing new. Subjugating and brutalizing females of all ages is part and parcel of Islam and always has been. From the very beginning, females of all ages have been subjugated and brutalized (and killed in the most barbaric ways too for that matter) by Islamists acting in the name of Islam and it is no different now than it ever was, Islam not having changed or evolved since it first came into existence 1,400 years ago. Twas ever thus as the saying goes.

Whatever Boko Haram is doing to those schoolgirls they are doing it in the name of Islam and as such don’t feel they are doing anything wrong at all…according to Islam, they’re right, they aren’t.

Nothing good will come to the kidnapped schoolgirls, that’s for sure. However, some good may come from this incident if it serves to reveal the true face of Islam to the world, if it causes people of good conscience and courage to see Islam for what it really is and take remedial action against it.

Maybe this really will be a teachable moment.

One can only hope.

And act in response to the Nigerian schoolgirls plight, to the plight of the untold millions of other females of all ages around the world who are being subjugated and brutalized by Islamists acting in the name of Islam and to prevent the same things from taking place against females of all ages anywhere and everywhere.

Even in the West.

Especially in the West.

Will Boko Haram’s barbarity open the world’s eyes?

Hopefully.

Hopefully.
